Lucky Cat Zoë
started DJing at parties in 2000 and then progressed to having her own club nights in South London (Messy
and Lucky Cat
nights). A collector of vintage vinyl Zoë has a specialist interest in East Asian culture and since 2006 she has produced and presented 12 series of the radio show Lucky Cat
for the renowned London arts station Resonance FM. The weekly programme is a tasty chop suey of East Asian culture and Reggae, Rhythm n Blues and Folk. In particular, Zoë has made several programmes exploring the Chinese diaspora to Jamaica and the contribution to Reggae music. In addition, she has contributed mixes to the BBC’s cult radio programme On the Wire
Zoë collects a wide range of musical genres – all on vinyl – but true to her South London roots Reggae is her first love. From 2012- 2014 she had a monthly residency at Mango Landing in Brixton. More recently Zoë has been guest DJing at reggae nights across the UK and Europe and has also been curating music for film festivals, restaurants and bars. She will play at the prestigious London International Ska Festival in 2017.
In 2016 Zoë started an all female Reggae DJ collective – Sisters of Reggae , see: facebook.com/sistersofreggae
