It was a great pleasure to interview singer and artist Kiki Hitomi on this week’s show. Kiki is originally from Osaka Japan and after living in the UK she is now settled in Leipzig, Germany. Her debut album Karma No Kusari is out now on beautiful limited edition blue marbled vinyl on the Jahtari label.
We chatted about Enka, Reggae, Kiki’s musical journey, motherhood, art and design and the universe! I ran out of time I really wanted to ask about food as well. Hopefully Kiki will come and do a live set in the studio when she is next in the UK…..
I play lots of new music – just went straight to the studio from the record shop! Indonesian folklore music, Japanese fan dancing pop, Reggae Enka and the new tune Heatwave from Pama International!
On this week’s show I interview Naomi Suzuki about the 2016 Japan Matsuri (an annual festival of Japanese culture held in Trafalgar Square). The dim sum lunch box features duck with taro. Yum.

My top 3 picks from the BFI LFF:
